Overview of the Queenstown Trail

This video fly-through will give some insight into the type of riding you can expect on these 3 epic days:

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrowtown To Queenstown (35 km ~ 3 hr ride)

On this first day, you’ll head out on a 25 minute shuttle from our shop in Queenstown to Arrowtown, one of the most scenic towns in New Zealand. There’s the opportunity to explore the town – once a historic settlement during the Gold Rush Era – and grab a coffee to help fuel your day. We’ll fit you to your bike/E-bike for the day, give trail tips and a map, before you set off on this independent adventure ride.

The route starts by following the willow-lined Arrow River toward the Morven Ferry, crossing the river via a few spectacular bridges. From there you’ll join the Twin Rivers Trail, which follows the banks of the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers, to the shores of Lake Whakatipu. The last section of this ride is a gentle, flowing trail along the lake’s edge in to Queenstown Bay where you can return your bike.

Check in to our shop at 8:50am for the 9:00 am shuttle departure.

Day 2: Queenstown To Jack’s Point (25 km ~ 2.5 – 3 hr ride)

Now onto your second day of riding, you’ll collect your bike/E-bike from our shop and follow the shoreline of Lake Whakatipu. The trail loops around Frankton to the Kelvin Peninsula, where you’ll see grand views of Cecil Peak, before it first plunges and then climbs back up to the finish at Jack’s Point.

This section of trail is entertaining, undulating, and very scenic! We’ll collect you at 2:30 pm for the return shuttle to Queenstown.

Start from our shop anytime between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

Day 3: Bike The Wineries Full Day (18-25 km ~ 2.5 hr ride)

This third and final day of riding is a way to kick-back and reward yourself after the efforts of the last couple days. It begins with a shuttle from Queenstown out to Arrowtown. You’ll then ride the gentle Arrow River Bridges Trail out to the Kawarau Suspension Bridge – home of the world famous Bungy jump – and the gateway to the Gibbston Wine Valley.

From there, spend the afternoon biking at your leisure along the majestic Gibbston River Trail, visiting as many wineries as you like. Our winery map is a great tool to help make the most of your time in the valley. After 3 days of riding, we think you’ll have earned a pinot noir or two!

We will pick you up at 4:30 pm from wherever you choose in the Gibbston Valley for the final shuttle back to Queenstown.

Check in to our shop at 9:20 am for the 9:30 am shuttle departure.

You’ll be riding on wide, gravel trails that are mostly graded 1 or 2 (a couple short sections are grade 3). As this is 3 consecutive days of riding, it is recommended for those keen and capable riders who have some prior mountain biking experience.

Minimum 2 riders per booking.
